Writing on the move.
You know how writing gurus always say that you need to find a quiet place where you can write regularly every day? Yes, that’s right and I’m one of them.
But what if you are on the move? On holiday? Or, as I am this week, moving house?
Well, you can still practise your routines. Find a quiet place. Maybe meditate for a few minutes before you write to practise being in the present. Then get going.
Your creative ability does not have to be affected if you are on the move. You just have to be even more disciplined. And believe in yourself and the powers of creativity.
Having trained and worked as a journalist, I’m used to writing and editing when everything around me is on the go, and there is noise aplenty, even if I am trying to be still and quiet. That’s the secret. Stay in the present. Focus. Let the stream of consciousness take you forward.
Meanwhile, I’m preparing to launch the first of my two tips booklets to be published this summer and autumn. “Winning copy writing” is in the final production stage, and will go to print in mid August.
In September it will be followed by “Winning novel writing”.
This is all very exciting and promises to make my August house move a memorable one.
